This weekend has been busy. Friday was the last day of VBS at Prestonwood and I ate lunch with Keith and the single parents there. I wasn't feeling too well so I went home and took a nap before I went to work. I went to work, then came home and we at some lasagna I cooked that morning...yum. At 10p.m. we had our Singles 2 softball game.
Keith has helped me so much with softball. I have always loved to play it, but have never been the best at it. Now I can hit the ball pretty hard. Our team is CoEd and the guys are all really good. The girls, some are good, some are just starting to learn. So it is pretty funny when the other team brings in the in field and out field when I come up and then I hit it over their heads. Thanks to practicing with Keith, of course.
Back to our game... I only got to hit once because there were so many girls. Keith on the other hand got to bat twice. His second bat, we were down by one. He swung and hit the ball so hard it went straight to the fence. They got the ball, threw it in while he was rounding second. He decided to go to third...and slid. Did you hear me? HE SLID...IN SHORTS...ON A HARD, ROCKY FIELD. And it looked so good. It brought be back to the days he was an all-star player at Austin High School. If only I was there...because it looked so good when he did it. But when he got back up he had a bloody knee and shin, and we won the game. Our first win of the year!!
We went to bed late Friday night and got up early Saturday for my class with Dallas ISD. I had class from 9-4 on Saturday and they taught us all about teaching art to elementary students. It was great and I learned a lot. Keith came with me...tired, and his leg hurting. He sat and read while I was in class. When that was over, he dropped me off at work and came back to pick me up at 8. We were so tired Saturday night we called Domino's, ordered a pizza, and went to bed.
This morning Keith got up early to man his booth at church. At 9:30 I met him for Bible Fellowship. We walked around the church getting rosters and hoping other classes had doughnuts to spare. They didn't so we got a couple of danishes at the cafe. (Yes, we have a cafe in our church. Along with 2 bookstores, 3 basketball gyms, and soccer and softball fields. Crazy, I know.) I went to the library and got a Beth Moore book and then Keith had to go into the service for the invitation. A couple came and wanted to join. I met him in the decision room and we headed to Tin Star to meet Singles 2 for lunch.
Tin Star was good and we finally went home at 1:30. Keith had to preach at a retirement home here at 3:00. (Sometimes we call it the funeral home on accident :) ) He only talks for a few minutes but he said today it went well.
Keith's leg is hurting him so bad from being on it this weekend, he is crawling in our house going from room to room. It's a good thing our apartment is small. I have offered tylenol. LOTS of tylenol. He finally decided to take some tonight. If there was a way I could give it to him without him knowing, I would. He is in a good mood, and I am thankful. NO More sliding for him and we are praying his leg will heal soon.
