Our week

I met my friends from life group at Panera Thursday night. I got a free smoothie, a small Mac & cheese, & a scone for breakfast. Yummy. Then I picked up the kids & went to bed. I was asleep before 8pm.

Wednesday night austin went to the clubhouse, Khloe to the nursery  & I went to DivorceCare. Wednesday nights everyone is tired & the trash can is waiting for me to take it out to the street even in my pajamas. The trash men come at 6am on Thursday. Ugh.

Friday Austin comes home from an afternoon with his dad & gets a bath. My parents bring us BBQ & Austin eats a bite of BBQ but eats 4 go-gurts instead. Then he got a stomach ache.

Saturday Austin got up before the sun but went back to bed until 7. After a morning with his dad he took a long nap.  Khloe & I got lots of chores done at home. We played until bedtime.

Sunday Austin put a puzzle together on the kitchen floor while I ironed our clothes. Khloe wished she could be crawling around, but played in her crib until I was done ironing. Church was great. Mom made another amazing lunch. Austin didn't nap so we all went to Sears & Lowes to look at appliances for 'the grey house'.  Austin requested Pizza Hut so we had breadsticks & a half pepperoni half sausage pizza for dinner. Then we did bath time, read a book & early to bed.

Whew.

It's been a rough few weeks.

I was looking at the stages of grief and I think I'm at anger/frustration stage.  The next part is acceptance and I am looking forward to that.

We celebrated my mom's 60th birthday at the beach.  Austin started summer PreK at school.  I have a job interview next week.

Things are moving along.

Austin is singing which is huge for him.  I love to hear him sing "Jesus loves me."  He also loves to celebrate a birthday and will sing "Happy Birthday" any day of the week.  He looks forward to going to church Sundays and Wednesdays.  When he turns 4 he will get to do more fun things at church.

Khloe turned 8 months old & is getting more mobile and is a really good eater.  I could never get Austin to eat baby food veggies, but Khloe will eat almost anything.  She's even started eating tiny bits of table food.

Thursday & Friday

 

Thursday I went to MOPS - (Mothers of Preschoolers) from 930-1130.
We had a Spa Day with manicures, massages, make up, and good food.
Everyone also left with a prize.  I wanted to put all my tickets in the maid service, but I could only put one ticket in there.
I won 3 hours of babysitting & $20 to Moe's.  Not bad!
They fixed us a to-go lunch and I ate that later because I was so full from the breakfast they gave us.
I cleaned out my car and moved Austin's carseat to the side to make it easier to put him in.  He's 32 pounds so I needed to make it easier for both of us.

K had honor society induction Thurs. night so Austin and I had a ChickFilA picnic at home, played, had a bath, watched Mater and went to bed.  They're fruit cup was tasty!


This morning (Fri) Austin got up early.  I changed his diaper and put him in bed with us.  I think he fell asleep for about 10 minutes then we were up getting ready and eating breakfast.  K is working on taxes and playing golf with my dad.  I am working on scheduling Smudges for most of April and part of May.  I have 5 schools where I teach an art lesson to the 3rd grade classes.

We are excited about seeing my brother and his family this weekend.  We are celebrating Savy's 4th birthday and my cousin's wedding Saturday.

Thank you, Jesus we sold our house in TX around this time last year.  It was  good house & we miss it.

My grandmother's house is in the Garden District where we live & it's move in ready & priced to sell.  It's a great location & looking at houses around here this one has lots more updates.

So

I've been sharing a room with a 2 year old for the past 5 nights. The first 3 nights it felt like I had a newborn again and not in a good way. The tired kind of way. We don't know if A has allergies here or a cold, but our first 3 nights consisted of snoring, sniffling, and coughing...just what you want to hear on vacation.

Night 4 A was still coughing and rolled off his mattress twice during the night and now he has a nice bruise from the 5 am roll over onto the hardwood.

Night 5 Christmas Eve night...nice & quiet...wonderful!

I guess that explains the no nap he's taking right now. He currently has his sock on his hand like a puppet.

A is loving his Pepa & Grandma and they are loving him. He got a tee ball set from them & I think it's going to be lots of fun.

He was looking at it today in his high chair as I was making tacos for dinner.

A Year Ago

This time last year school had just ended and we were enjoying our hot summer in TX.  (It was our first year we had to water the foundation.  Our backyard looked like a desert not that the grass was dead but there were holes in the dirt.)  K & I always thought it would be great to live closer to one set of parents especially now that A is here.  We knew we could not please both since they are 12 hours apart.  We were leaning toward the place where they keep it weird where K is from.  Right around this time we got a note from my mom telling us there was a position open for a Full-Time Philosophy professor in her area.  I had been working full-time as an elementary art teacher and K was adjunct, but not full-time.  He wanted to be full-time.  I really enjoyed my job.  I had my groove.  I knew my kids.  We were enjoying where we were living.  We had our favorite places to eat.

K applied for the job.  He interviewed for it and they offered it to him the week before he was supposed to start.  We packed up our house in a week. What we couldn't fit in the uhaul or in our cars we left in the garage.  Our first Sunday in AL,  A turned 1. 

K started his job and I started mine as a mom to A.  It was hard.  I was supposed to start my 5th year teaching hispanic kids in DallasISD.  I couldn't really say I was excited to have moved because I so missed everything. 

Many people here don't understand why I miss TX so much and why I wasn't that excited to be here. A lot of good things happened to me there. I got my master's degree, my teaching certificate, I met my love, I had a baby, I bought a house, We left friends and a great church, I got my first job that paid the bills and I LOVED.

Life has gotten better since we started Mother's Day Out, exercising, live our own place, and have somewhat of a routine.  We've been here 10 months and I still miss things about TX.  I was there 9 years - I should miss it.  It's 103 at the ballpark tonight in Arlington at 7p.m.  I do not miss that.

Ahhh Quiet

A slept over at Lecee & G's last night so K and I could have a dinnner date.  We have stopped eating out for a while due to A not wanting to sit still and/or be quiet at a restaurant.  We went to Rodeo and tried their Mexican food.  It was good.  This morning K got up and went to the golf course which left me with a quiet house!

I read some of my book, made coffee and a bagel, the Today show is on. 

Thankful for babysitters.

K's dad's pizza on the Green Egg was yummy.  They picked it up from Papa Murphy's then put it on a pizza stone in the green egg.  They got the vegetarian and it was better than Mr. Gatti's.  Yum.
