Just some things...

I grew about 10 little tomatoes like this one.

We are spending a lot of our time with friends during the week.

We visited the air museum in Fort Rucker.

Spending some of our weekends at the beach.

Eating popscicles and

Enjoying afternoon thunderstorms

Praying for patience and joy.

Y'all...

It's Wednesday.

I am tired.

The end.

Everything's OK?

No.

When a husband leaves his pregnant wife and 2.5 year old son things are not ok.

NOT ok.

Geez.

But this? this pair - good. Very good.

This afternoon.

I walked inside the house with Austin, then turned around and got something out of the car.

WHAM!

Austin shuts the door to the house and It. Is. Locked.

I was locked out of my own house with a toddler inside.

I called Keith.  I tried to keep Austin by the door.  Keith came home quickly!

I went to get us Panera for dinner.
On the way home I see what appears to be my favorite coffee cup in the middle of the street.
I drove off with my favorite coffee cup on my car.  Perfect.  Juust perfect.

I'm going to bed before anything else happens.

He wakes up talking.

He's pointing to our bed.

"Mama!"
"Dada!"
Us (not ready to get up), "Austin, play with your toys."
"Mama!"
"Dada!"
"Milk! Juice! 'Nana!"

Some things in 2012.

2012 was a doozy of a year.

I'd have to say a lot of 2012 was frustrating.

We had a lot of change - new city, new church, new house, new toddler, new job

I'd say with change comes frustration then acceptance then peace.

I think I'm at the acceptance place now.

A few months back I was begging to get out of this rental house.  It's so old and terribly laid out, but we can't find a better place to live.  That's that. (I would like to kick the man who decided to put the laundry room outside in the garage storage space. It's not like he's going to do the laundry anyway.)

I've accepted that I may not teach art ever again, but I'm not sure what's next for me as far as a job.

I've accepted the fact that if God really wants us here then He has a plan for us and will show us that plan soon.

So here are some things I will be doing in 2013:

Praying more
Focusing on the positive
Be a better wife
Be a better mom

So next year when I write about 2013, frustrating won't be my word...It's our 7 year anniversary coming up.  Isn't 7 God's number?  And Austin...he's turning 3.  Isn't 3 better than 2?  Oh yes 2013 will be good to us.

12~12~12 at 12:12p.m.

Today I'm taking a day off.
I had breakfast with my boy
and took him to school.
I hung out with my mom
and bought Christmas presents.
I'm trying to clear my head
and get some things done.
Hopefully I can find somewhere new
to work after the holidays.
Something with less stress,
no cops, no panic buttons, no referrals.
Just happy.

K&I have been married 6 years and 4 months today!

Tuesday

Life is too short to write referrals and hit the panic button all day.

Getting a mini milkshake with my boy, watching a movie and looking for jobs - even better.

Let's just be honest.

I have a group of girls who make 2nd period art a living hell.

Austin is still stuffed up.

He will fight us when we come near him with medicine.

I miss my sweet little elementary kids who loved art.

I am thankful for the handful of high schoolers who like coming to my class.

So glad it's Friday!

Wednesday

Frustrated? Yep.

Kind of wishing I was still teaching in Dallas.  That was going well.  I was good at that.

Sometimes I think things are fine...and then they aren't.

Oy vay

So...

Austin and I went to a Bama birthday party Saturday.

We've been going to this church and we like it.  You might remember our delimma here.  They keep it simple and we like that.

I have one more school left with the smudges program and the Wiregrass Museum of Art.  It's the school I went to when I was in 3rd grade.

Some days I think teaching high school art is going well and some days I don't.  The teacher left everything in a mess & I'm trying to pick it up and make it better.

Austin woke up at 5:45a.m. this morning.  Boo to time change.

Oh me

Oh Monday...You are making me crazy!
  • A woke up at 5 this morning wet...woke up again at 7:45 this morning.
  • It's A's first day at daycare this morning...he didn't want to leave his Mama!  Tears.
  • Got a weird phone call about subbing
  • Witnessed a high strung Mama checking her kids in at school today yelling at the ladies behind the counter
  • Got to my classroom to teach art and the classroom teacher thought her day was Wednesday, not today.  Surprise! Let's do art!
  • Had to teach really fast for my second class - because they had somewhere to go at a certain time.
  • It's A's naptime right now & I'm really praying he'll lay still and take one at school.

***A had a good day at DayCare!  He didn't nap, but he layed down for 2 hours. He was on the playground when I came to get him and he didn't want to leave.  Lets hope the mornings get better.  A had a few come aparts after school due to being tired.  We made a quick trip to the Art Museum for gluesticks then watched BubbleGuppies at home.  I made banana nut muffins and A has played.  We are waiting for Dad to get home!***

Is this the end?

Thought Little Man would nap today.

He didn't.

No nap for a week.

He went to bed yesterday at 7pm and got up at 8a.m.

Ever since the crib he's napped great.

Now this stupid toddler bed has taken our nap time away and Little Man is TIRED.

But he refuses.

I've tried being mean, spanking, rubbing his back, reading a story, bath before, laying down with him.
NOTHING.

Gah.

The Future

So...

We lived  in TX for 9 years with great talent and things to do at our fingertips...

Things here where we live now aren't really up to our expectations.

We talk about that a lot.

But we also think our decisions lead us to other things in life....mostly good things.

For example:

Before K & I got married he interviewed for a position at Prestonwood Baptist Church.
He got it, but I needed a job.
I got a job in their children's ministry.
It stunk.
I quit.
I got a job at a scrapbook store & applied for DallasISD's teacher certification.
I got it! I passed my tests! I got a job teaching!
I taught for 4 years.
Teaching for 4 years got me to this job I will start on Friday.
And hopefully all of my past experiences will lead me to something even greater next year.

Having a stinky job at Prestonwood lead me to have an AWESOME job in Dallas.  Sometimes bad things lead to good things...at least that's been our experience.

A Class in Migraines

Over two years ago I started getting what I thought where weird floaters in my eye.  They would be gone in 30 minutes, then I would have a headache.

Some headaches were small some HURT.
Like early this morning.
Wake me up at 4:30a.m. hurt.

My symptoms were the same as most people who have migraines:

1. aura (floater)
2. sharp pain above eye
3. pain bending over
4. nausea

Thankfully, they are not frequent and usually come with stress.

Prayers are answered.

Thank you.

I'm OK with staying home with my A.

I'm OK if no one wants to hire me right now.

Taking it one day at a time & enjoying the process.

Thursday. Yay!

After we drink our coffee and watch cartoons
Here's our plan before naptime:
  • drop off recycling
  • library - drop off A's reading log
  • drop off clothes at thrift store
  • learn more colors
  • clean the kitchen
Blast from the past:
These kids were my students in Dallas.  They were
so much fun and cute and creative.

Life in a small town

I never thought it would be this hard to find and get a job.

I hand delivered my resume to a couple of schools today.

Had a LONG conversation with hubby last night about the future.

Praying something will work out.
